Dressing Down a Pleated Skirt
I love pleated skirts. However, like tulle skirts, I feel like they fall into the “party skirt” category, which means that I can wear them to weddings and church … and that’s pretty much it.
I’ve seen a lot of blurbs in magazines about how pleated skirts are actually great for wearing to work, but I’ve been completely unconvinced.
However, a few weeks ago, I was on Pinterest, and I saw a picture of a woman wearing a pleated skirt with a denim jacket. And it actually looked casual enough to wear to a dinner with friends — or maybe even to work. So I decided to try it myself. And I was pretty happy with the result!
I really do think that the jean jacket makes the skirt feel a lot more casual. Of course, denim is a “no” for a lot of work dress codes, so I’m going to keep looking for other ways to make this skirt work for days in the office. Stay tuned!
Also, as a side note, the earrings I’m wearing here were a birthday gift from my sister. She told me that they were expensive, and she was poor, so she expected to see them on the blog. 🙂

On the topic of finding things on Pinterest …
A few weeks ago, I was really, really craving something sweet. I went to Pinterest to find something different to make, and I found this lemon blueberry cake recipe. It was a little intense (three layers), but Matt and I got really into the Great British Baking Show this summer, and I thought it would be really fun to bake something and see if I’d learned any tricks from the show.
It turns out that I had learned a couple of things, but I’m now 100% sure that I don’t want to be any type of baker. I spent at least three hours making that cake — and it didn’t help that all of our cake pans are different sizes, so I had to bake the layers one at a time. And though the cake was good, it wasn’t really worth an entire evening of work.
I’ll just stick to watching other people bake. 🙂
