4 Ways to Wear a Blanket Scarf

How to Wear a Blanket Scarf | Fashion Inspiration on Hunting for Pink Flamingos

This fall, I decided that the one item I needed to add to my closet was a blanket scarf. Especially since I’m always cold, and they look really warm and cozy.

And it turns out that the impressions are 100% accurate. How did I wait so long to jump on this bandwagon?

It hasn’t really been cold enough for me to get much wear out of mine yet, but I have spent a lot of time playing with different ways to wear it. (Like, a lot.)

I shared 4 Ways to Wear a Scarf last winter, so I thought I’d do a second round today with four ways to wear a blanket scarf!

Option #1

Blanket scarf + moto jacket + casual dress + flats

Worn with a sundress and moto jacket.

4 easy ways to wear a blanket scarf

Instructions:

  • Fold your scarf in half diagonally so that you have a (huge) triangle.
  • Bring the middle point of the triangle up to your chest so that it’s right below your neck.
  • Cross the two ends behind your head and bring them to rest on either side of the material in front.
  • Tuck the ends under the bulk of the scarf and tie them in a loose knot.
  • Adjust the layers. (If you want more warmth, tighten the scarf so that it touches your neck -or- bring the knot under the material up to rest on your throat.)

Option #2

How to wear a blanket scarf as a shawl

Worn with a sundress.

The 2-minute way to style your blanket scarf

Instructions:

  • Unfold your scarf completely and hold two corners in your hands. (If your scarf is a rectangle, choose two corners on the shorter side. If it’s a square, pick any side. :))
  • Fold 1/3 of the scarf over.
  • Holding the doubled-over material, wrap the scarf around your shoulders like a shawl.
  • Adjust so that the material stays in place and doesn’t cover your hands.

Option #3

Instructions:

  • Unfold your scarf completely, and hold the corners of one of the shorter sides (if the scarf isn’t a square) in your hands.
  • Put one hand in the middle of that side, and bring the two corners together in the other hand.
  • Keep holding the scarf in the middle, and run your other hand down the length of the scarf, bunching it together.
  • Hold the material in the middle, and put it around your neck.

Option #4

Instructions:

  • Fold your scarf in half diagonally so that you have a (huge) triangle.
  • Bring one side around your neck so that it hangs down a few inches — don’t center the scarf.
  • Bring the other side of the scarf around your neck so that it hangs down almost as far as the rest of the material.
  • Adjust the sides so the bulk of the material is off center.
  • (Optional) Fold down the fabric around your neck to create a “collar” on t he scarf.

If you’re looking for a blanket scarf, you should definitely check this one outΒ — it comes in 32 colors. Mine is the triangle tan.

Also, apparently this scarf works well as a nursing cover up. So if you need that (for the record, I don’t), this is your scarf.
