Why You Need a Denim Jacket

The denim jacket | A staple for your fall wardrobe

I’m not going to lie — almost every time I see my denim jacket in my closet, I think, “Is that even still in style?”

I always come to the conclusion that it’s in style enough to match my other clothes and that it doesn’t really matter anyway. Jean jackets seem to be those things that go in and out of style pretty fluidly — possibly fluidly enough to argue that they’re never out of style. (At least, that’s what I do.)

Their place in the fashion heirarchy aside, I think everyone should have (or at least consider having) a denim jacket. Here are 3 reasons why.

  1. They’re warm. They won’t be a whole lot of use in a snow storm, but for fall, they’re a solid bet.
  2. They’re cute. I think this one’s pretty much self-explanatory. πŸ™‚
  3. They’re versatile. You can wear them with so many things in so many ways. And now that the denim on denim look is popular, there are even more ways to wear them.

I’m a big fan of buying denim jackets second hand (because then they’re already broken in and comfortable). In fact, I found this jacket at Plato’s Closet.

It was a great deal, but it was from Abercrombie & Fitch, which wasn’t something I really wanted to advertise. (I mean, you can basically smell that store from a mile away.) So before I wore the jacket, I spent 10 minutes carefully ripping off the huge A&F patch on the back. (Thank you, seam ripper.) And now, unless you look really closely at the buttons, you can’t tell it’s from A&F at all.
