I would say that, in general, I’m a person who wears a lot of color. But there’s something about an all-black outfit that is hard to beat.
First, and possibly most importantly, it all matches. When it’s 6:30 in the morning and I’m tired and I literally can’t use my brain yet, I can grab all black pieces and be set.
Second, wearing head-to-toe black looks chic. (Well, most people think so. Matt told me I looked like I was going to a funeral. #rude) You know what isn’t chic? Wearing head-to-toe lime green. Which I did — frequently — in 6th grade. It was probably my favorite outfit. True story.
Third, it’s versatile. I’ve worn this dress to work, church, and a bachelorette party, and it worked for all three of them. Black outfits are also my go-to for events where the dress code is unclear. If it’s super casual, I only feel a tiny bit overdressed. If it’s somewhat fancy, I only feel a tiny bit underdressed. I’d consider that a win on both occasions.
(Obviously I really like Ross.)
We took these pictures at the Chapel Hill Public Library, and the design behind me is made of Post-it notes. More specifically, it’s made of Post-it notes with the names of the people who participated in the summer reading program. Pretty much every kid who walked by while we were there wanted to stop and look for the Post-it with their name.
And who can blame them? I looked for — and found — one that said Naomi, and I didn’t even participate in the summer reading program. 🙂
Thanks for reading!
