Wear to Work Wednesday: Red Pencil Skirt

Red Pencil Skirt | Work Outfit

Matt lived in Lynchburg, Virginia, for two years (teaching high school and middle school Latin), and the best part of that arrangement was that there was a J. Crew factory store about 10 minutes from his apartment.

That meant that I could get really cute stuff, like this red pencil skirt, for a fraction of the price. We’re talking $30 instead of the typical $100. It was awesome.

I really love wearing this skirt with a floral shirt because it’s something different. I’ve also worn the skirt with white, black, and gray tops (respectively), and while those outfits look good, they don’t really have the pop I’m looking for.

Also, I love wearing this shirt in general. I found it on sale for $7 at Old Navy years ago, and I remember saying to my mom, “This shirt is really ugly. I’m going to try it on.” Of course, when it put it on, it fit well, and it didn’t look as hideous as I’d expected. And it was $7. So I bought it, and I’m still wearing it.
