When I was little, I had a book where the main character (Spunky Spaniel) wore one red shoe and one blue shoe. I apparently thought that was the coolest thing in the world because I was always wanting to wear mismatched shoes.
At some point, I gave up on the mismatched shoes (maybe because it was a little impractical and often difficult to walk) and went to mismatched socks. Of course, I didn’t go for the boring white/gray combos – I was all about the pink/blue, pink/orange, purple/green combos.
And even after I moved away from mismatched socks, I still wore a lot of bright socks – and bright colors in general. (My fifth grade softball pictures feature me wearing my yellow “jersey” T-shirt, black shorts, and hot pink socks.)
So basically, I’ve always loved bright colors and statement pieces. Like this amazing yellow scallop dress.
When I saw this dress in the store, I was like, “I need that dress.” But then I tried it on, and I thought the back was super weird. So I decided to pass on it.
Of course, the next day, I decided that the back was actually fine, and I really wanted the dress. But there were two hangups. One, you could only buy the dress in yellow in the stores (online they just had pale pink, which wasn’t the same). Two, the dress, which was at LOFT, was full price the second day. And I never buy things full price at LOFT because I know that they have sales on their regular-priced merchandise all the time.
So I took the completely normal route and pounced on every email I got from LOFT over the next two weeks until I saw that dresses were 50% off. And by that time, the dress was even on sale, so I got an even better deal on it. I was so proud of myself. 🙂
So if you shop at LOFT at all, definitely sign up for their emails. And as always, thanks for reading!
