Over Christmas, some of my mom’s friends threw a wedding/engagement shower for Matt and me (complete with a hot chocolate bar that I was obsessed with). They had everything covered – food, decorations, invitations – which meant that I just had to worry about what I was wearing.
I was very game with the whole “the bride wears white” idea, but I didn’t want to buy a white dress that I’d probably only wear once and never have another use for. Especially since, as my sister said, white doesn’t work with my skin tone.
Cue the white tulle skirt (that yes, I did make with this party in mind) and an off-white sweater with rhinestones. And then, because I get cold easily, I added a faux fur scarf. Because why not?
Matt and I took the outfit photos after the fact, but I did enlist my sister to be the official event photographer the day of. Here are a few of the snaps she took.
I was such a happy camper at that party. Getting dressed up, chatting with tons of people, drinking hot chocolate … it’s all a win in my book. Thank you to everyone who helped make it so fun!
