Summer Packing List
I think we can all agree that vacations are excellent (and necessary), but sometimes, it’s really hard to find the motivation to actually pack for that vacation.
You somehow have to pare down your closet into a capsule wardrobe that will work for any situation that may arise (thunderstorm, nice dinner out, workout with Dad … ), and you have to make it all fit into one suitcase. Not easy; not fun.
When this happens to me, I start by making a general outline of what I’ll actually need. And it typically speeds up the process of packing while also ensuring that I have enough clothing to last the entire trip.
Here’s an example:
2 pairs of shorts
2 T-shirts/tank tops (for lounging or exercising)
2-3 pairs of running shorts
1 set of pjs
1 rain coat
2 pairs of sandals
1 pair of running shoes
1 pair of sunglasses
As you can see, it all easily fits in a carry on suitcase (this one is 22″ tall), and there’s still plenty of room for undergarments and extras for your exact location (like more swimsuits and a coverup if you’re going to the beach!).
And assuming you’re ok with rewearing shorts and possibly a shirt or a dress (which I am), this could easily get you through a six-day vacation!
